The lady likes her drink

I tend to skim through various mama sites while nursing, and today I read something that adamantly stated that babies need water once they start solids or their kidneys will be overloaded. “Crap,” I thought, “I had no idea! Here I’ve been feeding her solids for two weeks now with no water! What a bad mom I am!” But, then I read something else that said that babies are highly susceptible to water intoxication and that milk/formula is the only liquid they need. As I googled, I found more and more evidence to back up both arguments, some with some pretty persuasive reasoning. And then I just closed the laptop and thought, “Forget it! It’s just water! Aren’t our bodies, like, 90% of the stuff, or something? Did cave people really wait until the precisely right time to give their babies something as simple as water? How much thought can I really put into this?” So I just went for it. First time with a sippy cup, first time with water, and that baby girl knew just what to do. She even threw her head back and chugged.

The Amish manage to raise a dozen (give or take) without google. Life has gotten too complicated. Ooh, Sylvie is so cute.
