One year ago today

One year ago today, I was on Monhegan Island with my dad. Father-daughter bonding time. From the moment we got there, I had a constant metallic taste in my mouth and a sneaking suspicion that there were actually three of us on the trip. :) I snuck a pregnancy test into the bathroom and got the faintest pink line the world has ever seen. So faint that I didn’t believe it, but I did decide to abstain from wine, just to be on the safe side.

Can you even see it? Note: it's the line on the right. The one on the left is the control.

After I tested, but before I told a soul. Can you see the twinkle in my eye?

I didn’t have cell phone reception in the inn, so it was hours before I could call Jon and let him know. My dad and I went on a walk, and I was eventually able to sneak a phone call. I sent Jon a camera phone image of the test, and he said he really couldn’t see anything and not to get my hopes up. I sent the image to Danielle, and she said the same thing. Luckily, they were both wrong. I took another test…or 5…in the days following our trip:

And one year later, that faint, pink line is the love of my life.

That is so funny. Why do they make those damn things so hard to figure out? I used the ones with the plus and minus signs and mine was really faint too. I went up to Chi-Yun and was like, “Um, honey? I’m not sure but I think I might be pregnant.” We must have stared at the stick for 20 minutes or so before we finally convinced ourselves it was a plus sign. Our little Luke is proof enough.

So it’s okay to save 6 pee sticks but NOT the baby’s belly button stump?? I don’t know about that… ha ha
