Not our week

Someone stole our credit card information and wiped out our checking account over the weekend.
They didn’t steal the actual card (which is still sitting in Jon’s wallet), but somehow just the number. And with that, they were able to go on a shopping spree buying exactly the kind of big-ticket items you would expect stupid criminals to buy at Home Depot and BJs. They liked BJs so much, in fact, that they went through the registers 4 times within 40 minutes. You have got to be kidding! That didn’t seem suspect at all?
What, you ask, does this have to do with a baby blog? Pretty much nothing. Except for the fact that Sylvie picked the absolute worst time imaginable to go on a sleep strike. While we sat around last night and stressed about our hands being tied as we waited for thousands of dollars in fraudulent pending charges to go through over a holiday weekend, that little girl flat-out refused to sleep.
Well, she went down without much of a fight, and she did do a couple hours. But, by the time I was ready to hit the hay myself, Sylvie was up and ready to rock and roll. Seriously, this kid slept maybe 3 hours, nursed another 3, and tried to engage me in talking and playing the rest of the time, despite my steadfast refusal to acknowledge her. She was even laughing hysterically to herself while trying to claw her way out of her co-sleeper at 3 AM. Please tell me this a fluke!

No, this is not from last night and is not how we dress her for bed. However, it is representative of her state of alertness at 2 am!
Why, oh why did I post about how well she was sleeping? I did it both here and on a local moms Yahoo group. I totally jinxed it. The karma gods are punishing me now for being a braggart. Well, either that, or Sylvie’s entering this phenomenon called the “4-month sleep regression.” My friend Nancy just recently blogged about how her son, Luke, is doing the same thing. At the time I read her post I felt empathetic, but shrugged it off as an issue we would not likely encounter with our amazing little sleeper. But, apparently my little girl is not immune. If last night was any indication of those to come, I’m doomed. The only time I “slept” at all was when I had her, often squirming and chattering, draped over me like a blanket. Since I had to contain her movements, prevent her from rolling off of me, and keep her from being smothered by the blankets and pillows…well, it wasn’t exactly restorative quality sleep.
It’s 10:30 PM now, and my anxiety level is starting to rise as we get closer to last night’s witching hour. Please send your very best “Sylvie stay sleeping” vibes. I know we don’t deserve them, seeing as we’ve probably clocked more total sleeping hours than 99% of parents of 4 month-olds, but being robbed has to counterbalance at least some of that, right?!

O, Dear. I didn’t want to say anything but I kind of thought this might happen. I don’t think any baby is immune. Not even the Sleeping Beauty, Miss Sylvie. But it has just been one night. Maybe it’s a fluke. Maybe she drank a double shot expresso when you weren’t looking. If it is the sleep regression thingy, it’s just temporary. Luke finally had a good night’s sleep last night for the first time in two weeks. I figure he was just testing the limits of my unconditional love for him. Jerk. As for the robbery? I can’t believe it. I also resent the fact that it has robbed me of my ability to enjoy even the tiniest bit of Schadenfreude over the sleep situation. These criminals must pay!

Sorry to hear about the credit card fraud. That is horrible!!! I hope you guys can resolve it quickly. It’s so crazy because 2 of my friends are victims of identity fraud this month.
Sorry to hear about the sleeping problems too! Jackson did the same thing around 4.5 – 5 months. He started waking up in the middle of the night for no reason. It might be teething too – have you tried Hyland’s Teething Tablets? Miracle pills – and 100% homeopathic.
