Fall fair fun

On October 8th, we headed to the Topsfield Fair with our friends Amanda and Jackson. Jon and I had pondered going, but were scared to brave the mayhem on the weekends, so I was excited when Amanda invited us along that Thursday. We enjoyed minimal crowds and an absolutely gorgeous fall day. We all had [...]

Screw it!

I’m DONE with the ear molds. Done Done Done. I can’t do it anymore. I’m done with putting tape on her. Done with having to keep them dry and covered. Done with hats. Done with fretting that she’s going to rip them out and swallow them in the middle of the night.  We even ordered [...]

150 days!

I was just punching Sylvie’s stats into a growth calculator, and it informed me that my baby girl is 150 days old today! Wow! Happy 150th day of life, sweet girl.

Getting back on track

Oh, identity fraud. We have had the life sucked out of us in the past two weeks. One new bank account, all new bill-pay services, and one new phone number later and we’re finally getting back on track. Luckily, we managed to squeeze in some fun moments with Sylvie between frantic phone calls. I know [...]

Ilene, Ikea, and Instruments

On October 2nd, Ilene came out for another visit. Sylvie loved snuggling and playing with her, and Ilene couldn’t believe how big she had gotten in such a short time. On Saturday, we decided to go to Ikea. Which, in retrospect, was one of our dumber ideas. The drive, the crowds, the lack of places [...]

Grandpa kisses

On September 26th, Grandpa and Mary stopped by to visit on their way home from Maine. I caught this lovely moment between Grandpa and Sylvie: I wonder, though, if he knows that there is competition in the form of another (albeit littler) Frank?

Not our week

O. M. G. Someone stole our credit card information and wiped out our checking account over the weekend. They didn’t steal the actual card (which is still sitting in Jon’s wallet), but somehow just the number. And with that, they were able to go on a shopping spree buying exactly the kind of big-ticket items [...]

“We can never have enough of nature…”

On September 15th, Sylvie and I met up with Sarah, Anna, and Sophie at the Walden Pond beach.  It was a gorgeous and warm late-summer day, and there was just enough shade to allow Sylvie to lounge in nothing but her little swim diaper. Good thing, because she refused to stay in the Peapod that [...]

Dear Sylvie (at 4 months)

Dearest Sylvie, I’m so sorry that my letter to you is late. I have no good reason, except that I’ve been busy having fun with you. Which, I guess, is the very best excuse. However, I’m starting to push it with it being well over a week late. A week in your lifetime is substantial, [...]
